Hello everybody,
Oh my gosh, Halloween has come and gone and Thanksgiving is just around the corner. And don't let me scare you but as of the day I'm writing
this, there are only 34 days 'til Christmas. I'm ready for Christmas though because I just had the first Christmas party of the season on November 7th (a thank you
party for all of the contractors who worked on my house this past year) so my Christmas lights are up and my Christmas tree is decorated and every room of my house
is decorated too, even my bathrooms, and all of my Christmas shopping is done. So WOW now I get to coast through the holidays and really enjoy them. I'm thinking
about making this a tradition... having the first holiday party of the season on the first weekend in November. It really puts the stressometer at zero!
I look back at last year and this year and it seems like they went by in huge chunks of time. I spent 9 months of last year in
either a cast or a boot . . . first I broke a bone in my right foot in March
walking Bailey so that took care of March, April and May. Then in June I had bunion surgery on my right foot
and there went June, July and August. Then I took a deep sigh and had the same surgery on my left
foot in September and that took care of the rest of the year. I laugh and
say 2007 was the year of the feet ! Then this past January I began the huge project of remodeling our
house, primarily the kitchen
and bathrooms and replacing all of the flooring, which took me through July. Then mid
September, I began renovating our pool and backyard which should be done in just in time for Thanksgiving. So this year has been the year of the house and boy, am I ever ready for it to be done!
I got through all of this with a smile and it made me soooo appreciative of the little things. Especially the quiet moments of every day
when I get to sit down and do absolutely nothing more than just breathe. Being able to wear cute shoes
which I haven't been able to wear in years. I savor every drop of my first cup of coffee
in the morning. And
most of all I
treasure every chance I get to walk Bailey because my sweet little guy turned 16 and
I'm so aware I'm not going to have him forever.
Look around my website and you'll see my slightly wacky sense of humor (my husband's always saying, "LINDA!"). If you haven't been
here before, take a minute and read
About Me and you'll see why my website is called lindawithasmile. And if you've got another minute
or two, click on Good Laughs
for some hilarious jokes and video clips and funny photos. And if
you like to cook and bake, don't leave without
checking out my Recipes. I'm known for being a pretty good cook and these recipes, both my own
concoctions and recipes from family and friends, are my very favorites.
To all of my family and friends who are vacationing in southern California, please come and visit. Our door
is always open and coffee's always brewing and we'd love to see
you. There's lots to do and southern California is truly
paradise because the sky is always blue and the sun is always shining,
and we don't have any bugs or humidity in the summer, or snow
or sleet in the winter. So give us a holler and
we'll meet for dinner, or better yet, come over and barbeque
with us and we'll top off the night with a dip in the spa and a glass
or two of wine. It doesn't get better than this!
Please keep our soldiers in your hearts, stay healthy and safe, and as always, I hope you find
something here that makes you smile.
. . . .

May you wake up with a smile and fall asleep content!
And remember . . . life is not a journey to the grave with
the intention of arriving safely in a beautiful well-preserved body,
but rather an adventure in which you skid in broadside,
totally exhausted and thoroughly used up, loudly proclaiming,
"Wow! What a ride!"
