October 3rd, 2008 — My Favorite Funny Political Stuff
Regardless of who support, don't you find that watching the Presidential campaign is energizing? I've never really wanted to be younger than I am or go back in time until now. Now I'm wishing I were back in college. I'd love to go from a political science class to an economics class to a finance class to a public speaking class. Unfortunately youth is wasted on the young and I didn't feel the energy or the excitement or the relevance of those classes at the time I was in them. Oh to be able to go back today! Anyway, enough musing. I'm starting to collect funny political stuff on my Good Laughs page and I've put it at the top. Enjoy! If you have anything you want me to add, just email it to me.

September 1st, 2008 — My Sister Carol's Spanish Rice Recipe
Carol and I hadn't seen each other in several years and she came to visit me for a 4-day weekend in the middle of August. We drank coffee on the patio in the mornings and champagne in the courtyard in the evenings and inbetween we cooked up a storm. She's a GREAT cook and I had to add her recipe for Spanish Rice to my website. It's a great side dish but it's so loaded with goodies that it could also be a meal in itself. You have to promise yourself when you make it not to taste half of it away before you serve it because it's THAT umm-umm good!

July 12th, 2008 — Printable Recipes
I don't know why I hadn't done this before but all of my recipes are now available in a printable format. Just click on the link at the bottom of each recipe.

And now that it's summer, be sure to try my bbq'd ribs and baked beans recipes. They're both out of this world and I know you'll make them more than once. It seems like I'm making ribs every other week and they're always gone in the first few minutes so be sure to make more than you think you'll need.

May 20th, 2007 — The Best $30 You'll Ever Spend
I just found a cookbook that's an absolute MUST for everyone who likes to cook, and it doesn't matter if you're a newbie in the kitchen or if you have years of experience. It's called CookWise: The Secrets of Cooking Revealed by Shirley O. Corriher. More than just recipes, it teaches you how and why ingredients affect the end result of a recipe. It's really the basics of cooking and baking, and it's actually fun and interesting to read! I'm so jazzed about this cookbook that from now on, it's going to be my standard birthday, anniversary, thank you, etc. gift. The retail price is $30 and I promise, if you like to cook and bake, this will be the best $30 you'll ever spend. But if you're not a purist and you don't have to have new, you can do like I do and buy your books used on Amazon for a lot less than even Amazon's discounted price. I bought this book used for $12.66. Whatever, don't let another day go by without getting this book. I guarantee it will change your life!

March 11th, 2006 — A Really Smart Dog
I always thought my little Bailey was pretty darn smart. Then I saw this video and I thought, "Now this dog is smart!" Be prepared, you're going to want to watch this video two or three times!

March 11th, 2006 — Breakfast Anyone?
Remember when you mother told you the secret to getting your day off to a good start was a good breakfast? Well, it's not quite that easy, you gotta know what to order. I think George ought to stop with the coffee. Ya think?

January 4th, 2006 — The Story of Adam and Eve
If there's one thing I'm not, it's religious. However, despite my Catholic upbringing or maybe even because of it, I've always speculated about the real story of Adam and Eve. This is one of my favorite versions. It's been around for awhile and on my website for a long time, but thanks to my girlfriend Phyllis, this time around it's got a slightly different twist to the punch line. Which makes it absolutely hilarious. Click on the picture and see for yourself!

June 13th, 2005 — Nine to Five? How About Eight to Eight!
This is one of my favorite paintings, Office at Night by Edward Hopper.  I had a print of it in my office in the early 80s, and then I moved it into my home in the early 90s where it's been ever since my husband and I moved back to California. I never realized how much meaning this painting would have in my life until this June when, after being "retired" for 15 years, I went back to work as the facilities manager for my husband's company. Good grief! Not only had I never seriously thought about going back to work but I certainly never envisioned myself in a job where I'd be working from eight to eight.  I love the job however, and I love working with my husband even though we probably don't talk to each other for a whole 30 minutes during the day.  Eventually the pace will slow down but for now, working eight to eight doesn't leave much room for anything else.  So to all of my friends and family, please forgive me if I'm worse than ever at keeping in touch. If you don't hear from me, it's just because I'm workin' for a livin' again!

April 3rd, 2005 — A Blue Ribbon!
Wow! Can you believe it? My little Bailey won first place in the Perfect Mix Small Breed category at one of the best dogs shows in the country!  I've always known Bailey was a special little guy and everyone else who knows Bailey has fallen in love with him too, but to take home a blue ribbon at a dog show? Wow! I was blown away! Click on the photo of us or click on the link to get the whole scoop and see the photos from the show.
