Daddy Long Legs
A father watched his 4-year-old daughter playing in the garden, and he smiled as he reflected on how sweet and innocent his little
girl was. Suddenly she stopped and stared at the ground.
The father went over to his daughter to see what had captured her attention, and he saw that his daughter was looking at two spiders
mating.
"Daddy, what are those two spiders doing?" she asked.
"They're mating," her father replied.
"What do you call the spider on top?" she asked.
"That's a Daddy Long Legs," her father answered.
"So the other one is a Mommy Long Legs?" the little girl asked.
The father smiled at his daughter's sweet innocent understanding of life. "No, honey, both of them are Daddy Long Legs."
The little girl looked up at her dad, stiffened her back, then stomped the daylights out of the spiders.
"We're not having any of that Brokeback Mountain stuff in our garden!"
